As we step into 2025, I am filled with pride for the progress we’ve made and renewed purpose for the journey ahead. Our organization has always been a catalyst for architectural innovation, professional development, and community-building. Each year we grow stronger, and now more than ever we must evolve with the changing landscape of our profession and the world around us. This vision for 2025 reflects our commitment to strengthening engagement, expanding educational offerings, and deepening connections within our membership and the next generation of architects.

Engagement and Involvement: A Dynamic and Inclusive Community

Our members are the heart of this organization. To ensure our future, we aim to make engagement more inclusive, interactive, and impactful. We look to increase participation from firms and members by promoting available opportunities. A key focus will be prioritizing volunteer involvement in committee roles and event support. Continuing to leverage firm liaisons and providing them with the tools to engage their peers will be vital to our growth.

Supporting Educational Programs and Initiatives: Advancing Knowledge and Practice

Education remains a cornerstone of our mission. Looking into next year, we are more committed than ever to supporting architects' development at every stage of their journey. We are launching exciting new educational programs for students of all ages, designed to ignite passion and foster development. By expanding our educational offerings and mentorship programs, we hope to breathe new life into the Emerging Professionals program. Partnerships with architectural firms, universities, and industry experts will be key to ensuring our members have access to the resources and knowledge needed to excel in an evolving profession.

Connecting Student Chapters: Bridging the Gap Between Education and Practice

The future of architecture lies with our students, and we must provide them with the tools, mentorship, and support they need to succeed. This year, I hope to forge stronger, more dynamic connections between our student chapters and the professional world. We will continue to offer portfolio reviews and career fairs while expanding new opportunities for engagement, ensuring that meaningful connections are made. By nurturing these relationships early on, we will empower students with the technical expertise and leadership skills needed to face future challenges and leave a lasting impact on the profession.

Together, We Build the Future

Reflecting on all we have accomplished, I am confident the next chapter of our organization will be one of unprecedented growth, collaboration, and success. United by our passion for architecture, commitment to education, and belief in community, we will build a future where members are empowered, students supported, and our profession continues to inspire, innovate, and lead.

I cannot accomplish this mission alone. It is only possible by collaborating with dedicated individuals willing to contribute their efforts. I look forward to collaborating with and supporting the 2025 Board of Directors. We will continue the work of defining Board Member roles and empowering them to lead initiatives. My hope is that our Board will embrace their purpose, recognizing the responsibility to follow through and deliver results.

Thank you for your dedication to our organization. Together, we will make 2025 a year of lasting impact for the future of architecture and in our community.

Sincerely,

Sara DeSalvo, AIA
